Mayari Sherina Ong is a Pilipinx American writer, sound artist, and Reiki practitioner raised in Northern Virginia (Manahoac territory). Intertwining her creative and spiritual work, Mayari creates to realize a world of radical liberation and connection. She’s a double Scorpio who reps her ancestors hard.

Mayari was a 2018 VONA fellow and 2016 Everyday Feminism fellow. Her writing has been published in Everyday Feminism, Rappler, and The Origami. She is currently working on a memoir about decolonization and healing intergenerational trauma and a graphic novel fantasy series inspired by Pilipinx history and mythology. Read her work here.

Mayari is a vocalist, multi-instrumentalist and audio producer exploring the elements of indie soul and sound healing. In 2020, Mayari’s podcast production work was nominated for a Peabody Award and won an Edward R. Murrow Award. She has produced acclaimed shows for Gimlet Media, Pineapple Street Studios, WNYC, and Pitchfork. Most recently she produced the music podcast, Object of Sound with Hanif Abdurraqib.
reiki healing
Mayari is a Reiki Master, vocal sound healer, and the founder of Higher Harmonics. She has combined teachings of Usui Reiki Ryoho with vocal sound healing to create the modality called Harmonic Reiki. By infusing Reiki energy into her vocal cords, Mayari sings the song of the energy body. She senses and releases energetic blockages through her voice, clearing the path for clients to connect more deeply with their Higher Selves.
